Since the age of Seven I have been involved in the boxing industry as a fan, fighter, and coach. I became a member of USA Boxing in 1993 and I am a certified boxing coach through USA Boxing. I am a three-time junior Olympic champion, a three-time Silver Glove and a Golden Glove champion. I work with athletes such as UFC fighters, professional Boxers as well as amateur fighters. Additionally, I am certified by Rock Steady Boxing Foundation to teach boxing fitness to people who are living with Parkinson’s disease. I have been a certified boxing specialist for more than ten years, continuously empowering people by teaching boxing principals. I was employed at the YMCA in downtown Denver from 2006 to 2014 as the director of Boxing where I secured space to start a boxing club to help people feel empowered. I went on to work for the Denver Athletic Club where I was the Member Experience Manager and Boxing Director from 2014 to 2016.

Book LessonsHello my name is Eddie Vasquez, but to keep it short and simple everyone just calls me Eddie. Boxing has always been a big part of my life since I was eight years old. I started competing at the age of eight and stacked up more than 100 amateur fights since then. I have won State, regional and national titles. I was ranked third in the nation by USA Boxing in the open men’s division. Now I am a coach/trainer for three years and counting. I teach classes and I do personal training. I also got my Associates degree at Arapahoe community college in business administration and attended Metropolitan state university for a year. I’m taking a break from school now but I will go back to finish my bachelors. Overall I love boxing and I love teaching it to others.

Book LessonsMy exposure to boxing began in childhood when my dad trained recreationally. I grew up watching many of the greats with him, such as Roy Jones Jr., Oscar de la Hoya, Wladmir Klitschko, and Manny Pacquiao. By nature, I love to compete and perform. This led me to dance competitively starting at age 3, and I also performed in the color guard with the state championship-winning Fossil Ridge High School marching band. I view boxing as both an art and a dance; rhythm, timing, and good footwork are essential fundamentals. I have been a member of the Tao of Boxing family for several years under the expert tutelage of coaches Kenny, Jon, and JR. I have developed a passion for the sport, and as a coach, I think everyone deserves to experience how powerful and strong they can feel while boxing. Tao of Boxing is truly Denver’s best boxing gym to learn the right fundamentals while also getting an amazing workout. When I’m not at the gym, I work as an RN with oncology patients, and enjoy petting all the cats I find.

Book LessonsMy name is Jorge Valencia and I am the new member of Tao’s Boxing Gym staff as an assistant trainer to Coach Kenny Hill. My boxing journey began at the age of 15. Before my first competitive bout back in the 2005 Colorado Golden Gloves I spent 2 years training. I served in the United State Marine Corps and deployed to Iraq. Upon my return from deployment, I was fortunate enough to join the All Marine Boxing Team in Camp Lejuene and trained alongside current fighters like Jamel Herring. In my experience, I have learned that fundamentals are everything and “if you cant do it slow, you won’t do it right fast”. My love for boxing has now moved me from competition to teaching. I have had the experience coaching children and ready to bring my knowledge to all of you who want to learn how to box. Whether it’s your first time lacing up the gloves or first time throwing a punch come join me on Tuesday and Thursday’s for the beginners course where we will begin YOUR boxing journey! Ohhrah! See y’all there!
